Windows 7 Tips

How To Add Additional Clock to the TaskBar?

If you have friends, family, or coworkers who live in different time zones, you may need to know their local times before communicating with them. This helps avoid calling late at night or too early in the morning, or expecting an e-mail or instant message response after they have already gone to bed.

You can add one or two additional clocks to the Windows 7 Taskbar, available by hovering your mouse over the main clock. Also, you can click on the main Taskbar clock to see larger versions of the clocks for the other time zones.

1. Click on the taskbar clock and click "Change date and time settings" when the popup appears.
2. The "Date and Time" multi-tabbed dialog box appears. Click the "Additional Clocks" tab.
3. Click "Show this clock" next to the first clock.
4. Underneath, click on the "Select time zone" pull-down to choose the desired time zone for the clock.
5. Underneath "Enter display name", give a name for your clock that will appear when you hover your mouse over the Taskbar clock or click the Taskbar clock to show the larger clocks.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 for the second clock if you wish to add a second clock to the Windows 7 Taskbar.
7. When complete, click "OK" to close the dialog box.
